SLG’s Areas of Legal Practice
Tax Planning
Trust and Estate Planning
In trust and estate planning, we assess and help clients to plan for the control, management and transfer of their assets in the present and future. As examples, clients’ estate plans may include methods of structuring the ownership and transfer of assets through the use of trusts, family limited partnerships, private foundations and other gift-giving programs. We counsel clients on estate-planning techniques to minimize the impact of estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer taxes and to limit what assets are probated in court. Our service extends from the inception of an estate plan through the administration of the estate after death.
Business and Real Estate Law
We offer a range of legal services essential to the success of small to mid-sized, growth-oriented businesses. We bring together our experience in tax, business, real estate, and intellectual property law to evaluate our clients’ business formations and potential business transactions. As part of that process, we write and review business agreements including those related to real estate.
At the intersection of tax, business and real estate law, we advise owners, developers, landlords, tenants, lenders and borrowers in real-estate transactions on the tax consequences of their real-estate acquisitions, development, operations and dispositions.
